GENERAL MEASURE: “Special care time”, (German: Sonderbetreuungszeit) for children: On 16.03.2020, a new federal law came into force which allows employees to be granted a special care period of up to three weeks for caring for children until the age of 14, who are subject to compulsory care. For the duration of the special care period, the employee retains their full entitlement to continued remuneration. Women affected by violence could ensure childcare without risking their employment. Stressful situations of combining work and childcare are an additional risk factor which was leading to violent situations. The support did however not cover the full time necessary.
